The roads that
define the island

Four signature routes, selected by James Mitri from six years of professional racing and training reconnaissance. These are not the most popular climbs. These are the roads that matter.

RIDE THESE ROADS

THE SELECTION

Chosen for a reason.
Every one of them.

A professional cyclist does not choose routes at random. Every climb in this selection carries a specific weight — a training memory, a race reconnaissance, a morning spent understanding what makes Mallorca the most important island in professional cycling.

James has ridden each of these roads hundreds of times. Each one is here because it earns its place in the conversation.

“The roads in this selection are not here because they are famous. They are here because they are extraordinary — and because I know exactly what each one demands and rewards.”

James Mitri — Founder, Altivelo

THE ROUTES

Four routes. Selected personally.

ROUTE 01

Sa Calobra

The Road That Cannot Be Explained

Sa Calobra is not simply a climb. It is a road built against every natural instinct, descending into a gorge before rising in a series of switchbacks that redefine what a road can be. Professional cyclists train here because nowhere else offers this.

Cap de Formentor — Altivelo

ROUTE 02

Cap de Formentor

The Peninsula at the Edge of the Island

The road to Formentor lighthouse is one of the most photographed in the world — and one of the most technically demanding. Coastal exposure, narrow sections, and a sense of riding towards the edge of something. Best before 8am.

The Tramuntana Loop - Mallorca

ROUTE 03

The Tramuntana Loop

A Day in the Mountains

The Tramuntana mountain range is a UNESCO World Heritage site — and the backbone of professional cycling in Mallorca. This loop strings together multiple passes and views that define why this island occupies a singular position in the sport.

ROUTE 04

The Wine Roads

Through the Heart of the Island

The Wine Roads carry you through Mallorca's interior, past the vineyards of Binissalem and the quiet stone villages the island is built around. Rolling terrain, empty roads, and a pace that lets you understand what Mallorca actually is away from the coast.

“Every road on this list has given me something. A lesson about effort, about patience, or simply about what a road can look like when the light is right. I selected them because they are worth your time.”
James Mitri — Founder, Altivelo · UCI ProTour Professional
